It is our pleasure to inform you that, after much careful consideration and planning, Shenandoah Summer Music Theatre (SSMT) will resume live, in-person performances this summer! In order to ensure the health and safety of our cast, crew and patrons, some necessary (albeit temporary) changes will be implemented. Please read further to learn more about what you can expect from our 2021 summer season!
SSMT Summer 2021: What to Expect
Due to capacity restrictions, we will only be producing one title this season. The show will run for an extended period of 37 performances between Thursday, July 1 and Sunday, August 1, 2021. In order to socially distance while in the auditorium, seating capacity for each performance will be limited to approximately 30% of what our theatre typically holds.
Health and safety is of primary importance. For this reason, the following protocol(s) will be in effect:
Our current hope is that, with these and additional safety measures, it will be safe for actors and musicians to perform without masks. As always, we will continue to review the latest research and follow all Virginia and CDC guidelines when planning and implementing our season.
The Show Must Go On!
The most pressing question, of course: What show will SSMT perform this summer? We cannot tell you just yet, but we can say that it is the ultimate fan-favorite and we know you won’t be disappointed. As a friend of SSMT, you will be among the first to know, so look out for our email!
Ticket & Subscriber Information
This season will be available to purchase via single tickets only (no subscription packages). However, our subscriber patrons from the 2019 and 2020 seasons will have the opportunity to purchase seats starting Monday, April 5 before they go on sale to the general public on Monday, May 3. Subscribers may call the Shenandoah University Box Office at (540) 665-4569 during regular business hours: Monday through Friday from 12PM to 5PM. When seats become available to the general public, tickets can be purchased online at ssmtva.org or by calling the Box Office. Due to social distancing, seating is extremely limited, so act quickly!
This decision would not have been possible without the support of our generous patrons throughout the past year. As you can imagine, no arts organization is entirely out of the woods yet — though it is nice to finally feel a bit of sun.
