Thomas Albert (Music Director) This summer’s production of Oklahoma! marks Tom’s sixty-seventh stint as music director since SSMT’s first season in 1984. Most recently, he conducted Sweeney Todd, A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, Mary Poppins, The King and I, Chicago, and Les Misérables. He retired from the faculty of Shenandoah Conservatory last year after forty-two years of teaching. During that time he music-directed more than 70 productions, including City of Angels, She Loves Me, Marat/Sade, 2014’s collegiate premiere of Green Day’s American Idiot, The Secret Garden, All Shook Up, Into the Woods, Sweet Charity, The Who’s Tommy, and Assassins. In addition to conducting musicals, he has also composed or arranged incidental music for several plays, including The Elephant Man, The Crucible, The Diviners, To Kill a Mockingbird, Summer and Smoke, Les Liaisons Dangereuses, Metamorphoses, Peer Gynt, and Angels in America, Part 1: Millennium Approaches. His latest project is incidental music for the Short North Stage (Columbus OH) June 2017 production of Angels in America, Parts One and Two. Tom is also producing artistic director of Shenandoah Summer Music Theatre, succeeding founding artistic director Harold Herman in 2015.
